And just like that...ADELYN IS 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an incredible year it has been! Adelyn has kept us on our toes, become a big sister (and loves up her sister more than I could have ever imagined!) and continually makes us understand love in a way we never thought possible. She never. stops. going. I just can't believe how much she has grown this year both physically, emotionally, mentally, and everywhere in between!
Full of personality and curiosity, this girl is typically up for anything and has become very fond of our "adventures" that we go on!
Yep...she's 2 alright!! We've had a few tantrums so far, but usually her meltdowns are a result from her trying to tell us something and us not being able to understand her (though it's getting better every single day!!). Addi LOVES playing with her dolls (lots and lots of dolls), begs to be outside every moment of every day, and can't miss her show Curious George when she wakes up in the morning (it's usually the first thing she says in the morning. "oohh--oohh-ah-ah-ah??". She loves counting (1..2...3...9...) and has become quite the independent toddler (Aaa do!!). Continually growing and learning, we can't wait to see what this next year brings us!! But for now, we are celebrating 2!!!
We began Adelyn's birthday celebrations the weekend before her birthday by celebrating with friends and family at her birthday party! We were so blessed to be able to celebrate with so many people...including her Grammy and Aunt Tasha and Uncle Josh who flew in from Texas to celebrate her! Adelyn still wakes up every morning (almost a month later!) and asks for them all! Too cute...
So what better way to celebrate Adelyn than by throwing her a Monkey themed party! If you know Adelyn at all, it's that she LOVES all things monkey!
We headed back down to Bayport Park (where Adelyn's first birthday party was held) for her party, because Adelyn loves that park and we thought by throwing it a little bit earlier in the day, we would get it in before nap time of her and lots of her friends/cousins, and we would also beat the heat of a warm July day! Well, little did we know that this would be the HIGH of the day...
57!!!!!! At the end of July!!!!! Well played, Minnesota...well played. It was freezing. Miserable even! We were so stinking cold! The kids were troopers though. We bundled them up and they got some fun play time in...
And some of us Adults pretended to enjoy ourselves...but we honestly were miserable...
So after a quick lunch, we broke out the ice cream and cookies (Adelyn isn't a big fan of cake, and who knew it would be too cold for ice cream in July). Adelyn shivered the entire time that she ate her ice cream...
Well, I guess we made the best of it. Before the party was even scheduled to end, we packed up the un-opened gifts in the car and called it a day party. At least we know some of us had some fun...haha.
A couple of days later, on Adelyn's actual birthday, we rented out the party room at our apartment and had a low-key dinner with grandparents, G.G. (great grandma), her cousin Brady, Uncle Josh & Aunt Tasha, and some of the Erickson clan, as they were not able to see Addi on her birthday party day. We let Addi swim in the pool (her favorite thing to do), play with her new toys, and enjoyed an easy Taco Bar dinner (nothing of which Adelyn would eat because she's so picky. Oh wait - she ate chips. Yep...the most unhealthy part of the whole meal. [sigh]).
It was on her actual birthday that for the first time ever, she didn't freak out when we lit candles for her! I warned her about them, we practiced blowing, and as soon as they even came near her, she started blowing her hardest to get them out as soon as possible!!! It was too cute. We all cheered really loud and so she asked for more! So we lit them again, and she once again blew them out as fast as she could, but this time she very quickly made sure we all knew that she was "all done!!".
Happy 2nd Birthday Adelyn!! We love you!!!
