As I'm starting to write this post, I realized that I missed out on an INCREDIBLE picture opportunity! Man I'm bummed! You see, my friend Maggie and I just threw a baby shower for our friend SueLynn the first weekend in August. It was a great shower with great people (and food!) and even though Maggie evidently makes fun of the way that I plan showers (and behind my back nonetheless!!!), I think WE pulled off a pretty great shower for our good friend, and I had fun planning it with her!! (Sorry Maggie...I'm still not over that!! haha).
Anyway, the great picture opportunity that I missed was at the end of the shower. Most of the guests had left, and it was just me, Maggie (co-shower planner), Suelynn (guest of honor), and our friend Betty sitting around chatting. Suelynn is very pregnant (due early Sept)...Betty is definitely pregnant (due end of October)...Maggie is a little bit pregnant (due early February, and just told us at the shower she was pregnant (so exciting!!!)) and I am post-pregnant (3 months post...but seriously these pregnancy pounds are sticking around way longer than I ever had hoped!!). Can you even imagine that photo?? All in a row...4 great friends...all going through a crazy part of life together (aka pregnancy and kids)...and so excited for each other. Man. That would have been a great picture. When this group of friends are together, we always talk about what it will be like in a few years with all the babies running around when we all get together or go to a cabin together or take a long-weekend together. Yep...these are those friends that I can't wait to do all that with...even with babies everywhere!!!
But instead of that great picture that I really, really wish I had, I instead have some pictures of a great shower that I got to be a part of! Suelynn (whom the shower was for) is an incredible cake-maker (She is the one that made Adelyn's 1st birthday cake!), So we knew that there was no way we could try to top one of her cakes, nor would it be right to ask her to make a cake for her own shower, so we decided to have a milk and cookie bar for dessert instead of a cake.
And a few fun other parts of the shower...(can you tell it was elephant themed?? I hope so!)
Maggie also made some impressive banners, but there was a huge glare on them when I tried to take a picture. I also think once the people started coming, I put down my phone and didn't take any other pictures from the whole shower! Lame, I know. But anyway, I am so excited to meet Baby Girl Junkert and am so excited that my girls will have at least one girl in the group when we all get together over the years (so far, all my friend's kids are boys...though I'm rooting for both Betty and Maggie to have girls as well!). It's going to be crazy...but it's going to be great!! Soon enough, when we get together with these great friends of ours, there will be babies, babies everywhere!! I like it. It's pretty much where we are at in life right now, and so why not go about it together with other people??!!
