March 2013: A doozie of a weekend...

Yep..it was a doozie of a weekend.  Well, not totally, but somewhat. Saturday morning, I woke up at 4:30am feeling "not quite right". After moving to the couch and laying there for some time, it soon became clear that I. was. Sick. I mean...REALLY sick (don't worry...I'll spare you the details).

Michael was at a retreat all weekend, so luckily Adelyn played very well (for the most part) by herself at the house all day while I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. Adelyn is still OBSESSED with the movie 'Pitch Perfect' (and hats), so we watched this movie two (maybe three??) times too to help pass the time.

We both took a long nap that afternoon, and waited patiently for Michael to return home...and man was I relieved when he got home (He even brought me home Sprite! yay!!) Multiple times I thought about going to the Emergency room because I knew I was extremely dehydrated, which is a bit more concerning when growing a little human being in my belly. But I pushed on with the liquids, and after one last extreme bout of "sickness" around 1am Sunday morning, I slept through the rest of the night (sitting up on the couch...but it worked), and woke up feeling like a whole new person on Sunday morning. Truly a 24 hour stomach bug is what this seemed to be.

I mention this because it's not often I get sick. Not like this at least. My house was a wreck, the high chair never got cleaned, and we even had a play area set up in the bathroom for Addi to play with while I was busy being "sick" (gross, I know...but she doesn't like to be alone in a room right now, so it was better to keep her distracted on the opposite side of the bathroom than for her to be pounding on the bathroom door for my sanity). TMI?? Yep...TMI!!!

So trying to find the positive in every situation, the positives of being sick on Saturday (am I really saying this??) is that we really didn't have any big plans or schedules that we had to break. We didn't have anywhere to go (wouldn't have made it anyway), and I didn't miss a class for school (can't miss a class, as I will be missing the max amount on maternity leave, and my graduation may be jeopardized if I miss any more), and I didn't have any work events this weekend either. Yay for the positive!!! But seriously...I pray that I never have to feel that way again! Uff.

The days before and after Saturday were a bit more pleasant.  Thursday we celebrated my mom's 61st birthday by going out to Phil Tera's Hideaway (yum!) and back to her house for some cake and ice cream. We got her some new luggage for her birthday, and Addi decided that it was the coolest play-house that could exist! This piece of luggage kept her busy for over an hour!! I think we possibly found a way to keep her traveling for free after she turns 2!! (I kid...I kid...)

(notice the feet peeking out of the bottom in this next picture. She thought she was hilarious)

Then, on Friday, we had our weekly cousin outing and ventured to International Market Square in Minneapolis for some cultural integration. Definitely a different world, but it was a fun experience to go and get out of the house and walk around a bit with Addi, Sydney & Michael.

Sunday, I was bound and determined to get out of the house after being sick all day Saturday, so my fabulous mother took me shopping for some hospital/post-baby comfy, yet functional clothes, while my fabulous husband indulged in a daddy-daughter day so that this mama could go shop her little heart out. I'm claiming this as now a tradition that she does with me when I'm pregnant (both times we have gotten to go shopping) and I am soooo grateful and thankful for this!! It makes a world of difference to have the "right" clothes when I am stuck in the hospital for 5 days recovering from surgery, nursing, managing my own pain, and welcoming all the visitors that come to see us. I officially feel like I am ready to pack my hospital bag (1 month to go people!! 1 month!!!!). Seeing this face when I get home never gets old though...

Looking forward to a great week...oh and Happy Holy Week!!!! Yay!!! Can't wait for Easter...it's always been my absolute FAVORITE holiday!!!
