Twice a year, we head up to a friend's cabin in Three Lakes, Wisconsin (once in the summer, and once in the winter) to enjoy a great weekend with some of our best friends (a group of us from Bethel who have remained close over the years). So, Friday morning, we packed the car so we could start the 4.5 hour drive right at Adelyn's nap time. In celebration of this trip (actually, it was just time!), Addi also got to experience her first time facing forward in her car seat! The first 1/2 hour of the ride, she was in total awe of everything she could see (then she fell asleep)...
After a 1.5 hour nap for this little lady, we spent the rest of the ride finding things to entertain her with. She watched "her movie" (aka Pitch Perfect) for about an hour, and she even got a couple special treats (licorice...yum! She loved it!)
We arrive at Scott's Cabin around 5:30pm and wouldn't you know, we couldn't even make it up the driveway after all the snow they had gotten. You better believe we sure did try though...which resulted in Michael getting out to shovel, and ultimately pushing us back into the road where we parked for the weekend.
Friday night we went out to dinner with Scott and Maggie, as everyone else wasn't coming up until much later. We ate at a great restaurant...and this random guy was sitting inside the door greeting us:)
The rest of the weekend we spent playing with kids, playing games with each other, eating TONS of food, watching movies, and just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. A few of our friends went out and snowmobiled for a bit on Saturday too!!
Addi loved having a playmate there also!! Blake has gotten so big since we last saw him, and it was so fun to see Addi and him play together (that is, when Addi wasn't pushing him down and tackling him!! Seriously...why is she doing this?? It's become a "thing" for her that we don't know how to stop, so if you have any ideas on ways to make it stop, send them our way please! Poor Blakey...)
After being inside for a day and a half, we bundled up on Sunday morning and enjoyed a few minutes in the Northern Wisconsin snow. Addi even got to sit on a snowmobile and pretend to drive it...I think she was ready to really go!! This kid has become so independent and thinks she can do everything by herself!!
Blake, on the other hand, was not so sure about going for a ride with his dad on the snowmobile. He cried and tried to run away...
But was soon caught by his dad and taken on a short ride around the yard! Too cute...
(Mommy makes everything better...)
Overall, it was a pretty relaxed weekend of not doing a whole lot except for enjoying each other's company in ways that we rarely get to anymore! (I blame everyone for moving away!!) It's always a blast to get together with this great group of friends regardless of what we end up "doing".
Luckily, we missed the weather when driving to/from the cabin, but the night we got home, we were hit with a snowstorm (yes, AGAIN!! Seriously...spring just needs to get here already!!) and on Monday morning, I battled traffic and accidents to get to class...which took me 2 hours to drive to!! (normally, it's a 20 minute drive)
Like I said...winter needs to BE GONE!! On a few other notes, here's some pictures from the rest of our week! Addi was on spring break all week (her daycare was on spring break that is), and so she enjoyed some time with her cousin Sarah at the beginning of the week, and then we all enjoyed time together with lax work schedules for both Michael and I. Here's some fun images from the week.
Back to reality this week! It sure was fun while it lasted though:)
