March 2013: Decorating Easter Eggs!!

Easter is my absolute favorite holiday of the year. Have I mentioned that before? Because it is. As a Christian, it obviously has significant implications for me, but I also love the simplicity of it. The little bit of Easter Basket Fun, but not overboard with gifts like Christmas always seems to be. I like that it is centered around that "fresh" feeling on Sunday morning when you get up early, have a special breakfast (at church for us), go to church and then indulge in a day surrounded by family and traditions.

Oh - and I love the fun, but not extreme, preparations that go into getting ready for Easter. Like getting a new Easter Outfit (yes, this is a must!)...and decorating Easter Eggs. This year on Pinterest, I realized that there are more ways to dye Easter Eggs than dipping them into little cups of food colored vinager!! (Imagine that!). And after analizing the situation of having a 20 month old, I figured that she might enjoy dying Easter eggs a little bit more if we break out of the norm, and have some fun.

So we broke out the tempra paints. At first, Addi was very cautious and hesitant to start painting. Anytime she would get just a tiny bit of paint on her, she would make me wipe it off with a wash cloth. Look how careful she is being...

But it didn't take long for her to realize that, "Hey! This is fun!!". While she was still be cautious, she was warming up to the idea more and more that it was ok for her to get some paint on her hands, and that it doesn't hurt (or whatever she was thinking it would do)

And before we knew it...all the eggs were painted, but Addi still wasn't done! On her own, she began painting her hand!! (whose kid is this???)

What a blast! Here's her finished products...

What a great way to start our Holy Week and Celebrating that Jesus Christ has risen...He has risen indeed;)
