October 2012: Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

CUTEST LITTLE ZEBRA I'VE EVER SEEN (if I do say so myself - and yes, I am biased!)

So, with all the crazy things going on in our life right now, all of a sudden we realized Halloween was upon us and we had yet to get and carve pumpkins. Michael was bound and determined that we would NOT let life get in the way of traditions, and so the night before Halloween, at 9pm, I ran to Cub Foods and picked up the best of the very-picked over pumpkins that they had left, so that Halloween morning, after making pumpkin pancakes for all of us for breakfast, we made the time to carve pumpkins!!

Well, Michael's turned out the best (Count Dracula if you can't tell)...but it also took him FOR-EV-ER to carve it, and with only one of those little carving knives that comes in a kit, I then didn't have time to carve my "Elmo" pumpkin before I had to be at Seminary for a meeting with the bishops...so I attempted to carve a quick "A" for Addi in her pumpkin (fail! I thought permanent marker would wash off of pumpkins...but I was wrong). I think it would have turned out halfway descent if it weren't for the ugly black marker.

And as far as my pumpkin goes, I tried to carve out a very girly pumpkin face, complete with eyelashes, except I couldn't figure out how to carve the eyelashes with the eyes, and everything went kaposh and it was a big. fat. fail. That pumpkin doesn't even deserve to be on this blog (aka, I'm forgoing the humiliation). Anyway...through our very rushed "halloween tradition" of carving pumpkins, Addi's only interest in the whole thing was feeding Sami the pumpkin seeds. She wanted nothing to do with the goo in the pumpkin or the pumpkins themselves.

And after a pretty busy day, it all came together when we joined the rest of my family for our Annual Halloween trick-or-treating party, complete with Tuna Burgers. We only get Tuna Burgers once a year (on Halloween), and they are talked about often during the other 363 days of the year. They are THAT good. If you only knew...as any of of my family members and they will convey their love for these Tuna Burgers that my grandma makes us every year (she makes TONS of them, because we all seriously eat 4. or 7.). Here are the three newest little ones in our family this year with my Aunt Mary and Uncle Ward. From Left to Right...Adelyn, Sydney (Sara's baby), and Ryley (Kelsi's baby). This was Sydney and Ryley's 1st Halloween, and they were both born in July too, so I couldn't help but remember that Adelyn was their exact same age for last year's Halloween party! So fun!

Adelyn was a trooper out trick-or-treating (aka getting candy for mom and dad to eat!). Ha. She was a pro at putting the candy in her bucket. And was rocking the Zebra outfit like nobody's business! We also surprised our family with a fun button that we added to Adelyn's costume and waited for reactions when people finally saw it and read it....not sure if you can make out the words on this picture, but I'll let you try:)

Yes, indeed, it was a successful, and VERY fun Halloween. 2012...down in the books.

On another note...the last part of our week this week consisted in Adelyn running a mild fever and being very clingy (technically I think most people would call this cuddly, but we NEVER have had this experience with our child, so we don't know to call it that). While it was one of the saddest things ever to see Addi not want to do ANYTHING for 3 days, I tried my hardest to enjoy this new "snuggle" experience with her...ok, who am I kidding...I snuggled that kiddo up for 3 days straight!!

Well, now she's feeling a bit better, and I haven't even gotten a 10 second snuggle in the past 2 days. Seriously...this girl is on the move. Always.

Lastly, this picture just cracks me up every time I look at it. Saturday morning was a pretty lazy morning for us, so I made us all breakfast, and this picture is of Michael and Adelyn patiently awaiting the pancakes and bacon to finish cooking...cracks me up.

And thus completes our October 2012! November will be crazy busy (complete with moving!), so I'll be anxious to keep you all posted!!
