October 2012: This and That...(And Halloween Preview)

Before I get to the Halloween preview that has been going on around here this past week, There's just a few fun things that I thought are interesting (more or less for me to look back on for future reference). First of all, after 8 months of trying to figure out how to feed Addi "breakfast on the go", I think I finally found the solution...SMOOTHIES!!!!

Being Adelyn doesn't usually wake up until 8-9am, and there are many times we have to be somewhere at 9am, instead of waking her up early and causing her to be crabby all day, I have figured out I can make smoothies with fresh fruit, yogurt, milk and even a little bit of oatmeal, getting her a complete breakfast on the go (and put in this sippy cup, it's clean too!). Sorry...just had to gloat a little bit that I finally figured it out and it makes our mornings so much easier!!

It's also been fun to see Adelyn become so focused this past week (ok, it's actually rare...but still fun). She sat and read this book on the couch for 15 minutes the other day, and stood by this toy as she was trying to figure out how it worked for quite awhile too (complete with her hand behind her back the whole time. So cute).

This week was kinda crappy weather wise, so it was a fun break when Katie and I decided to take our girls to Eagle's Nest in New Brighten for a fun play date! Norah and Addi had a blast together!...and Katie and I got in our exercise chasing the girls too:)

And NOW...let the Halloween festivities begin!! It all began last Tuesday, when Adelyn came home from Parent's Day out (that the daycare at the new church that I work at!) with a fun Halloween Art Project. It is definitely the only thing hanging on our fridge with pride!

Then, every year the Wednesday before Halloween, the community that my grandma lives in puts on a halloween parade for their residents, where they also hand out candy. So Adelyn debuted her Zebra costume for all to see...

We also went with my nephew Brady (who dressed up like Michael Jackson), and our cousin Sydney (she was a cupcake!)...

And boy, oh boy...did the candy roll in. Adelyn picked up on this whole "Trick-or-treating" thing a little too quick...taking the candy from the residents and putting in quickly into her bucket. In all honesty, mommy was pretty darn excited about all the candy Addi was getting (I mean, honestly, a 15 month old can't have candy!!)

And then today, at our ECFE class, we had a halloween celebration complete with costumes. All the little kids were adorable and I was shocked that there wasn't a single costume duplicate!

Only 2 more days until the REAL day...which I'm excited for!! But these pre-celebrations have been pretty fun too:) Happy Halloween Week!!!
