October: Fall Happenings...

Whew. Sorry for the late post today folks...It's been a rough day trying to get Addi down for both her nap and now bed (took me 3 hours to get her down for a nap, and over an hour to get her to bed tonight. Not fun. Not Fun). I swear the whole "sleep" thing is one of the hardest parts of this whole parenting thing. Anyyyywayyyyy....(Sorry...parenting rant complete!)

So, this past week has been a fun week of lots of fall activities!! Addi and I took a day and headed up to Braham, MN to hang out with my good friends from college Marianne and Ross, and their two awesome kiddo's Natalie(5) and Eli(2). Seriously...we don't get to see them nearly as often as I'd like to each year, but when we do, it's always a good time. Addi got to ride around in this little tikes car, and play with all the leaves that have recently fallen off the trees! Her and Eli played AWESOME together too! Pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen (I confess I'm a horrible parent for not getting a picture of those two playing together...)

Then on Saturday, Michael, Adelyn, and I ventured out in perhaps the coldest day of the year so far to watch my nephew Brady play in one of his last football games of the season. He had a great game, but unfortunately, his team lost:(

I mean, seriously...I couldn't believe how cold and windy it was at this game!! Here's my mom and my grandma trying their best to stay warm. The quote of the day came from my 87 year old grandma as we were walking to the cars after the game. She said, "I need to start acting my age and stay by the fire place on days like this". We assured her that would be a boring life. She agreed and will still be tailgating next Saturday at 8am before the gopher football game (she's a season ticket holder), regardless of whatever the weather may be. Proud granddaughter here:)

And Addi stayed warm by being all sorts of mismatch. After buying her all sorts of cute new winter gear that matches and is for all different weather/temperatures, she ended up with a bit of everything on this day. I contest that we weren't quite prepared for how chilly this day would be, so we just kept throwing different layers on this poor kid. Oh well...I'm over it. (And no, I do not pump my child with warm coffee from Starbucks to keep her warm...she is playing with my empty cup, because it kept her busy for a long time).

Oh - and remember my awesome grandma that I was speaking of earlier? She has always (and probably always will) brought a little zip lock bag full of candy to share with all of us during half time, no matter what sport we are watching. So when Gram passed Addi the little bag, we couldn't resist letting her have 1/2 a fun sized KitKat bar. Her first experience with candy...and based off her reaction to it, probably not her last!!

Here's just a few more cute pics of Addi showing off her totally "stylish" self (I swear! I'm over it...ha.)

We spent the rest of Saturday soaking in the hot tub and trying to get warm again. I'm not quite ready for this cold weather stuff...

Then on Sunday, we got to celebrate little Miss Sydney's baptism!!! (my cousin Sara's baby). She was a doll!! A family tradition for baptisms is that all of my grandma's children, grandchildren, and great grand children (yes, even the boys!) have worn this same baptismal gown on the day they get baptized. We are always amazed every time a new child gets baptized that the dress continues to make it through these days. It's almost 70 years old!! Sydney rocked it with style...and was beautiful!! (Addi wore it too! You can see it on the blog when I blogged about Addi's baptism day).

Addi got her party dress on for the party too!! Saying our child LOVES parties and social gatherings is a big understatement...

It was a fun week and weekend filled with lots of activities. Of course, we did get a chance (actually we were forced by the weather a few of the days), to hang out inside, snuggle with some blankets, and keep warm while we just enjoyed this crazy little girl...

While I absolutely love being out with other people, family, and friends, I need to remind myself that the little moments (like when we are just chillin at home, laughing over the fact that Addi fell through my legs and got stuck in the big down comforter), are moments that won't last forever and that need to be cherished as well. Cherish those moments:)
