October 2012: When Dad's away...the girls WILL play!!

Every year, Michael takes his youth group down to Robin's Nest Children's Home just outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica for a mission trip this third week in October. Being a "stay at home" mom right now, I got a true glimpse of what it means to be a full time single parent. PROPS TO ALL YOU SINGLE PARENTS OUT THERE!!! I can't stress that enough. I don't know how you do it. Let's just say, by the end of the week, I was exhausted...couldn't keep my house clean for anything...gave up cooking all together...and even forgot to put on real pants one time when I was walking out the door. It felt like I was a new parent all over again.  It was hard. I was VERY excited for Michael to come home last night, though with our schedules, I didn't actually get to see him until 11am this morning for the first time.

Here's what I mean by a bit crazy. Adelyn never does this, but of course when Michael is gone, she wouldn't leave the toilet paper alone. Every time I fixed it, she would pull it off again. So, I just left it. I'm pretty sure the bathroom looked like this for 3 days, and I just pulled chunks of toilet paper off the floor when I needed some (don't judge).

Well, even though it was a very "challenging" week, we did manage to have a little bit of fun:) Afterall, isn't that what us girls are supposed to do when Dad's away?? We went shopping...(and Adelyn got a package of clothes from her Grandma Carmack, so it was like double duty shopping!)

And we got to spend our Thursday with cousin Sydney AND cousin Sarah!! We even managed to get out on a walk that day...Sydney in the baby bjorn, and Addi in the stroller:)

And we had a bonfire one night with Papa and Brady...

And we had ice cream for lunch one day (ok, Adelyn didn't but I sure did!!)

And we tried to keep busy with going outside, running errands, and enjoying time with family and friends. Oh yeah - and we started packing!!!! Yep, that's right, we rented out our townhouse in anticipation of me graduating and getting a job somewhere, so that we won't be confined by our house. We need to be out by November 15th. Uff-da.  For now, we will be renting somewhere for the next 9 months (haven't quite figured out where yet, but it will happen!), and then we will be open to going to wherever God may lead us after I graduate (Oi! That's a scary thought!). Bring on the boxes!!!

Yes, it was a crazy week (did I mention Addi is fighting a horrible cold through all of this? Which means I got thrown up on 3 times this week and had many interrupted nights of sleep...wa waaa). And boy oh boy, did it feel great to spend the day with Michael today! I'm so proud of what he does and his passion for ministry, but I am one happy lady when he comes back home to us!!
