July 2012: Cabin Week 2012

I grew up spending a majority of my summers at the cabin. My family owned a cabin with my dad's brother's family, and we spent so much time there growing up. It truly was one of my best childhood memories - the cabin! When it got to be too much, our parents sold our cabin, and ever since, we have taken one week out of the summer to rent a cabin on a lake somewhere, to continue on with the cabin memories and experiences. And the best part is that we still do it with my dad's brother's family!! Granted, our families have grown a bit over the years (just a bit!) but every year we all make it a priority to spend an entire week together at a cabin, on a lake, with plenty of boating, tubing, skiing, food, sun, and relaxing!

Like I said, our families have grown a bit. This year at the cabin, there was 16 of us between the two families. We actually rented two cabins that were side by side on North Long Lake in the Brainard area. Absolutely a perfect location! Adelyn got to experience her first cabin week...complete with lots of pontoon rides!

Our weather was gorgeous! We had incredible sunsets...and overall beautiful weather! Addi loved hanging out with her gramma and papa. She got lots of time with them:)

We had one day of overcast weather, which was fine with us, since it's also a tradition for the past few years that we head up to Nisswa for a day of shopping and eating ice cream (and you can NOT go to Nisswa when it is 90 degrees outside!) Addi even got to ride the $.10 (yep! That's 10 cents!) horse that was ancient and a staple of that small town!!

But pretty much every other day, we enjoyed the lake. How, you ask?

By Tubing...

(Yes, even us mothers tubed!!)

...and by Sinking Canoes...

...and by Water Skiing...

...and by boating...

...And of course floating, enjoying the sun, and being together!!!

Adelyn also LOVED the sandbox that was on the property...

And of course we always take one night to mini golf at Pirate's Cove!!

Seriously, we couldn't have asked for a better week! I know I say this a lot, but I once again feel so blessed to have the family that I do...people that I really truly do love and love to spend time with. My talented husband took these sparkler pictures, which I think help sum up our week:

Cabin Week 2012: Success!!!
Thank you family for a great week!!

(Also, thanks to Pinterest, we enjoyed some new treats this week!! Iced Coffee, Campfire Cones, Cookie Dough Dip, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies, and Fruit Lemonade were a few of our treats that made their debut this week! They all turned out great!! Oh - and voice memo blogging made a big come back!! Well...maybe not big...but it was a start:)
