This past weekend, I took part in helping to officiate my first wedding. See, I"m not able to fully officiate a wedding until I get ordained, but on internship, we have to learn how to do everything, and be a part of everything, and so along with my supervising pastor, I assisted in officiating a wedding this past weekend.
I love weddings. Even this wedding was fun, but it was a different take on a wedding. I didn't know anyone, and had only met the couple that was getting married a few times prior to the day. I spent my Friday and Saturday (which are usually my days off) engaged in the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and wedding reception. I've never thought of what a pastor goes through on wedding days, but now I know.
I'm not sure if this is typical or not, but Michael and Adelyn got invited to the wedding just on the basis that I was going to be a part of it. So, they met me at the reception, and at least we got to spend a little bit of time together on Saturday night.
Addi did great! I think she was so enthralled with decorations, people, and the craziness that was all around. She just took it all in...and had a few goofy moments herself:
I guess I can't complain....it is a pretty sweet honor to be a part of someone's special day like that. Looking forward to more of these in the future:)
