On Sunday, June 9th, 2013, Olivya Ann was baptized into the family of God!!! What a sweet precious child of God...dressed in a baptismal gown that has been worn by All of my Grandma Simon's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren (Olivya is the 20th person to wear the gown, and the gown is over 65 years old!). It was beautiful.
We were blessed to have Michael's pastor Julie come back from Sabatical leave on a Sunday afternoon just to baptize Olivya, as she also baptized Adelyn and has become "our pastor" as a family over the years.
And while Julie did the baptismal ceremony, I got to baptize Olivya with her, which was so fun to do as a mom (and a pastor!)!!
Oh and of course, Adelyn was pretty darn excited to be a part of the whole thing too (We kept telling her about the day she was baptized, but I don't think she understood. haha.) The 4 of us all had an incredible day of celebrating Olivya!!
We were honored to have these incredible God Parents for Olivya!! Josh & Tasha (Michael's brother and soon to be wife!) and Hannah & Sarah (my cousins whom I've watched grow up and have grown up with for the past 18 years too!). All four of these people are very important people in our lives and we can't wait for them to share in that with Olivya too!!
Sadly, Josh & Tasha couldn't make it to Minnesota from Texas because of Josh's work schedule, but thanks to technology and Skype, they were able to be there with us for the whole ceremony!! A huge thanks to everyone who came to the church and celebrated Olivya's baptism with us!! I truly have amazing family and friends!
And of course, a baptism wouldn't be complete if we didn't celebrate with a party afterwards!! And cake!! and lots of good food!! Definitely a great day to celebrate! We headed back to my parent's house for a fun day of celebrating with those we love.
Happy Baptism Day Olivya Ann, Child of God!! We love you!!
