I'm having a hard time with "stuff" this Christmas season...no, not my personal "stuff" (which I probably should have problems with! ha) but "stuff" in the sense that we have so many toys, so many things, so much stuff. So, in small ways this year, I am encouraging people to not get Adelyn "stuff", but rather things to do, things that she needs, or things that she will use. We decided to take our own advice and get Adelyn a year-long membership to the Children's Museum as her "big" Christmas present this year! (And yes, we will be guilty of getting her "stuff" this year as well...just not as much as we normally would). And when I went to pick up this gift of hers, well...it went into effect that day, so we just had to stay and check it out, and this could be the BEST present we have yet to get our daughter...
I was honestly surprised by all the things she could do there! For 2 hours straight, we ran from room to room, played with lots of different things...pretended to be a bus driver, and a singer on tv, and get messy with water and bubbles! We (and yes, I mean me too) seriously had so much fun!! The Christmas spirit has begun:)
Speaking of Christmas Spirit...we went to our first holiday party of the year this past weekend! Our friends Suelynn and Aaron host an annual Christmas party complete with great food, amazing friends, and white elephant gift exchange (which is always a hoot! Where did that gnome end up anyway???)...Here's some fun pics from that night.
And of course....Michael and I had a night out without the kidd-o! So, what do we do?? We go a little picture crazy (livin' on the wild side...I know!!)
Definitely a great night celebrating the holiday and being with friends! Other than that, it was a crazy weekend! I'm in the heat of finals (study break at the Library right now), and I had an all-weekend class (where we actually held a public meeting on the issue of foreclosure in Minnesota with senators, representatives, mayors, etc. at and we passed a mandate for the state legislature to vote on a bill for mortgage companies to be required to mediate with residents before foreclosures occur). This weekend we also got our first big snow storm!!! Addi was in awe (as was I!) as it was reported in Woodbury that we got a total of 16 inches of snow in less than 24 hours. Yep...it was that crazy!
Well...better get back to studying! Ugh. Through the craziness, it still was a great weekend gearing up for the holiday season!!
