Last Sunday, August 26th (yes, I know I"m a bit late on this posting), I completed my internship year at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser, Wisconsin. The next day, Michael, Addi and I got on a plane and flew to Albany, New York and then drove to Cooperstown, NY for a short get-away and to see the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Michael got to choose where to go to celebrate his 30th birthday, and this was a VERY fitting place for him to choose:)
Cooperstown was a VERY small town that literally lived and breathed baseball. In fact, if it weren't for the NBHOF being in this town, I'm not sure what would be left. We took and entire day of one of our days in Cooperstown to go through the hall of fame. So. Much. Baseball. Everywhere.
Of course, I was on the look out for anything and everything that was Minnesota Twins related!! And to my surprise, there actually was quite a bit of Minnesota pride in the hall of fame!!
And of course, one of the coolest parts of the Hall of Fame was walking down the hallways of those "greats" who have made it into the hall and seeing their plaques!
For a 13 month old, Adelyn did surprisingly well in her stroller all day at the hall of fame! Of course, she did want to get out and explore like a normal 13 month old would want to, so luckily, there were some opportunities to give players high five, or to dance with team mascots!
Oh yeah - Adelyn also entertained herself by saying, "hi" to the hundreds of people that we walked by while touring the hall of fame...
Once we were done seeing all floors and displays at the hall of fame, Adelyn was VERY excited to get outside and be "free!" (though she can't escape baseball here in Cooperstown)
On one of our days in New York, we decided to escape the baseball scene for a day (or part of a day at least) and head up into the mountains a bit to go and tour a cave...and wow! What a cave it was!!
So many formations and cool things to see!! We even got to take a little boat ride inside of the cave to go see things that we wouldn't have been able to otherwise! Luckily, it was all lighted by artificial lights so that we could see...because when they turned off all the lights, it. was. dark!! (notice the pure dark behind us).
And our final day in New York, we decided to embrace Cooperstown once again and get our last baseball fill in for our lives the year. This was part of the sculpture garden that was out back of the Hall of Fame...
(Adelyn thought we were HILARIOUS by mimicking the statues...)
Yes, it was a great little getaway, filled with baseball galore!!! This score board was right out front of the museum (Hall of fame) and we were able to keep tabs on all the scores of all the baseball teams at all times!
What a great trip we had!! Oh - and Happy 30th Michael!!!!
