The Reason I started this blog in the first place....

When I first started this blog a few years ago, I knew that someday we wanted children and that would be the main intention for this blog. Knowing that we have family on opposite ends of the country, we want a way to keep all of our family and close friends (whether in Minnesota, Texas, or any where in between) updated with happenings, pictures, etc. of our children and family as it grows. Well, that time has come!!!! Michael and I couldn't be more excited to welcome our first baby girl in late July!! Adelyn Carmack is scheduled to arrive on July 28th, 2011.

We suspected we were pregnant after we got home from our annual Jamaica Trip (November, 2010), but kept it to ourselves until we found out "for sure" when we heard the heartbeat for the first time (December, 2010). We wanted to wait until Christmas to tell people, but we were just too excited, so we told a selected few before Christmas, and then spilled the news over Christmas, which was perfect considering we got to go to Texas for a bit and share the news in person.

I was lucky to not be incredibly sick during my first Trimester. Sure, I didn't feel like eating anything other than bagels, carbs, and any fast food item. But other than that, there was only a one week span where I felt a bit sick. I've flown through (way too easily it seems) my 2nd semester...feeling great and full of energy (and my appetite is definitely back!!). I can only hope my third trimester goes just as smoothly as the first two, which I should find out in just two short weeks when my third trimester begins! The only cravings I have had really early on in my pregnancy were cheetos, chinese food, and sherbert! I sneeze all the time, am tired all the time, and cry at anything and everything that passes my way. I guess I feel good in the fact that these "symptoms" are all typical pregnancy symptoms, so for that I will be grateful!

Being I did have so much energy the past few week, we decided to spend a few weekends last month (March) working on getting the baby's room ready. Thank you "Grandma & Grandpa Carmack" for the great nursery furniture!! Here's a few shots of the room (we are still waiting for the glider). Thanks to Michael and "Grama Seekel" for taking on painting every room upstairs, including the nursery!! I love the way it turned out!!

You can't really tell...but the walls are grey:

We even put in a new closet system, which is now one of my favorite parts of this room! Oh...and I couldn't resist....one of my favorite purchases for her so far (Gap Winter Jacket - a must for living in Minnesota!)

So there it be! The official first post for the reason this blog was created!! We will see how much blogging I do before she actually comes. Maybe some interesting things will happen that I can blog about. But if not, my goal is to blog at least once a week with pictures after she is born to keep everyone who loves and cares for this little girl up to date on how she is doing....oh yeah...and how Michael and I are doing too!! Though, I have to admit, this might be the one place that we focus primarily on our little girl for now! In the meantime...Grow Adelyn Grow!!!! We can't wait to meet you in just 3 short months!!!
