July 2013: Independence Day Festivities

Well, we just got back from a great cabin week (post to come soon!) so I thought I would try to catch up on some blogging finally! Just before we left for the cabin, we had a great day celebrating the 4th of July!! We started off our day by walking in the Lake Elmo Kid's Parade. It. Was. Hilarious. Just picture a few hundred kids being let loose at the starting line and all going down the road at the same time. Some kids walked, some biked, some had scooters, and some were even on their toy barbie motorized 4-wheelers. Mass chaos, but adorable. Yep...we were a part of that!

After the parade, we headed to my aunt Terri's house for our annual 4th of July Pool Party. It was a gorgeous day and Adelyn spent the entire day in the pool.

This day she also started swimming on her own with her swimmies!! She just cruised around without anyone helping her or holding on to her!! And if that wasn't enough, she even jumped off the side of the pool all by herself, going under water and everything!! After watching her cousins go off the diving board, Adelyn asked if she could go off the diving board too! And while she needed a bit more help jumping off the diving board (she kept jumping on the board and couldn't quite figure out how to jump forward to get off of it), she still loved every minute of it! It's so fun to see this girl love the water!

Olivya spent most of the pool party sleeping in her car seat outside, or hanging out with dad inside where it was cool. Unfortunately, Michael was still recovering from his stitches and wasn't able to be in the water quite yet:( He got some much needed rest time on the couch though with baby #2!

We had to be a little festive being this was Olivya's first 4th of July! So we did a mini photo shoot sporting the stars and stripes!

After a great day of celebrating with family and friends, Michael and I took Brady downtown Stillwater for some awesome fireworks while my mom offered to watch the girls and put them to bed (Adelyn has developed a fear of fireworks, so we thought it best that she stay home and go to bed before the noises of the fireworks began).

And an incredible grand finale. Every year while watching the fireworks, I am eternally grateful for my freedom and the country in which I live in.

Happy 4th of July!! Let Freedom Ring.
