May 2013: Seminary Graduation

Before I was married, before I had children, before I knew what I was getting myself into, I started seminary. And after 5 years, one internship, countless papers and tests, I. am. done! I can't believe it! I officially have a Masters of Divinity degree emphasizing in Children, Youth, and Family. Whew! I actually went into Seminary to get a Masters degree in just Children, youth, and Family ministries, but after a year, I changed my course direction to include a Masters of Divinity (thus my 5 years of study rather than 4). At any rate, here are some of the great Children, Youth and Family Ministry staff that I have come to know and love over these past years...

Over this past weekend (aka graduation weekend), we spent Saturday at Luther Seminary having a picnic lunch with all the graduates, and walking around campus as they had an "open house" sort of thing for families of graduates. Addi loved exploring the campus, and I have to admit myself that it is a very pretty property that is fun to run around on (except when I'm late for class, which happened far too often than it probably should have...then I do NOT appreciate the "grassy land" that lay between all the buildings and classes).

I've always been a "commuter" student and lived away from campus while I worked full time besides, and so I do not feel overly connected to the community (and evidently didn't make it a big deal to people that I was graduating - sorry Katie!), but this place will remain dear to me as it has had a part in shaping who I have become over the past 5 years through life's transitions as well as how I have developed in my call to ministry as a pastor and what that means as I work with Children, Youth, and Families. As far as what the future holds now that I am officially done with seminary?? Well...that is still to be determined!! (P.S...look at this little Luther girl...I think the school could be in great shape if they used her for their poster child!! haha).

So long Luther Seminary!! It's been real. :)
