December 2012: Bentleyville

One of Michael and my favorite places to go is Up North, so when Michael found out that Duluth hosted a "light" event every year called Bentleyville Tour of Lights, we were on it!! We found a weekend amidst the craziness of the holiday (the weekend right before Christmas!) and headed up north for the weekend.

It was a "brisk" (aka freakin' cold!) weekend, but we still made the best of it. The first day, Michael, Addi, and I hung out in Duluth...went on a river walk, shopped the shops, enjoyed some coffee by the lake, rented a few movies and just hung out. The second day, the Ericksons joined us up north and we all headed to Bentleyville.

Upon arrival, there was a massive ice rink, so we stopped and played on that for awhile. Michael started off by bringing Addi in her stroller on the ice, but soon realized it could be so much more fun.

Michael pulled Addi around on her but, by her legs, flung her around the ice...and she LOVED every minute of it.

Then we headed to the "Tour of Lights" part, which was pretty spectacular!

Along the way, they had hot chocolate and cookies for us, and popcorn, and even a stop with fire pits and marshmallows that you could roast!! Being it was a FREEZING night (and this Tour of Lights is right on the lake, so there's a nice shore wind breezing around), we enjoyed the bonfire stop for quite some time!

It was a pretty spectacular sight! The rest of that night, we spent back at the house that we had rented, trying to get warm again, and enjoyed a big pasta dinner for a combined Christmas/Birthday party! Another successful trip up North! What a great way to really get into the Holiday spirit!
