For a few weeks now, we have been trying and planning to go to the Minnesota Zoo, and so after we all got up, fed, and dressed on Saturday morning, we loaded up the car and headed to Apple Valley to finally go to the zoo. When we neared the zoo, we stopped at Subway for some lunch quick, and it was while we were eating lunch that it started POURING rain outside. Ugh.
Right then and there, we should have turned around and went home and gone to bed. But we decided that we were going to do something...anything since we were already packed up for the day and out and about. Since everything outside was no longer an option...we decided to head over to the Mall of America and see what fun we could have over there.
Ok, I make it sound like it was a horrible day...but really the only other thing that happened that day was that we got a flat tire on our stroller while we were at the mall (which actually ended up being a huge hassle!), so had to trek it across the mall with our flat-tired stroller to get a rental and spend the day dealing with that:( Not fun. But in the grand scheme of things...our day ended up being really fun.
We decided to take Addi to Underwater World at Mall of America (kinda like the zoo...right?).
Addi enjoyed Underwater World to the extent that we made her enjoy it:) haha. She liked touching the water (probably had no idea she was touching live animals under the water!)
And she was (at least a couple of times) in awe at all the colors and fishes of the aquarium.
We then thought it would be fun to go on the carousal and ride the giraffe (again...trying to get a near-zoo experience)
She loved it! So after walking around the mall and seeing some other things, we decided to do one last ride before we went home and we all rode the Ferris wheel! Addi wasn't too sure of it at first, but then she realized that we were moving and going up in the air, and then she became much more interested!
Overall, it ended up being a very fun Saturday...even if we didn't end up at the Zoo. Then on Sunday, after a crazy morning for us all (both Michael and I had confirmation at our Churches...which is one of the biggest Sundays for people in youth ministry), we headed over to celebrate Norah's 1st Birthday with her!! Adelyn was VERY excited to see Norah and be at her birthday party (probably mostly because of all of the new toys that Addi got to play with)
I had to quick snatch the Birthday girl and get a photo with her. She was little miss busy bee all day long! What a cutie!
Addi is thinking, "Hmm...I could get used to these birthday party things"...
I can't believe Norah is 1 year old and that it was only/just/already a year ago that I was getting texts and calls updating me on Katie being in labor!!! Norah - You are so stinkin' cute and absolutely a joy to be around...FULL of personality!!! Can't wait to celebrate the many more years to come of birthdays for you!!
