Well, my 1st Mother's day didn't turn out the way I would have wanted it to, because I ended up having to work...but all in all, it was pretty good! I mean...afterall, it's all about this (see picture below): and that to me is perfect!!
Every year on Mother's day, my entire family (Simon Side) participates in the "Race for a Cure" 5k walk to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. Sadly, I was not able to be with my family and participate in it this year, do to my internship. But Michael and Addi went and represented us all and Addi got to experience her 1st Race for the Cure!!
You will notice that she is still in her Pajamas. Addi isn't used to waking up so early...so we swept her straight from her crib into her carseat and then into the stroller for the walk. She didn't seem to mind. Though I wasn't there, I heard how she did great and enjoyed all the entertainment and people! She even cheered everyone on with her clapping...
The oldest and the youngest in our family...all working together for the same cause...
Even Annie, my cousin Andrea's Dog was walking to make a difference!!
We started being a part of this event every year when my Aunt Cheryl was diagnosed with Breast Cancer many years ago. Unfortunately, she lost the battle to Cancer, and she is no longer with us on this earth...but you better believe that it is her spirit and memories that keep us going each year to continue to do what we can to fight for a cure! Truly an inspiration to us all...
After the walk, we all headed back to my Grandma's for our annual Mother's Day Party. This is where I met up with the family after I got off work. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we spent most of it outside...Addi LOVED crawling around in the grass...
And I loved spending the day with those I love! Michael helped to make a great 1st Mother's Day for me, and of course this one....well, she's the reason I truly felt blessed all day long.
